You need to setup th connection.

Most routers come secured, anfd so you must go through the connection manager, and put the proper default key into the passkey section.

have you done the connection wizard without the network cable? Because I dont berlieve that sets the laptop up, just the router.

I sually dont use a wizard, just find my router in the list, and connect manually.

HAve you tried that?

hi patomb

When I turned on my computer this morning my wireless connection light
has come back on any ideas why this has happened. I can now remove ethernet
cable and the connection does not fail.

Nope, no idea.

Btw, I have an acer 8930, and that light is also a button, which turns the wifi antenea on and off.

You might have hit that by accident.

You need to go to the manufactuers webpage of your laptop, and go to the drivers section. Usually in support or downloads, and get the network drivers.
You can download them on any computer and save them to a usb stick, then run them on the laptop.
