No sound at all

Hello, I recently purchased a new desktop computer and it came with an on board sound card, and it seems a lot of people are having problems with it (realtek). I was wondering if i could get any help, anything at all would be greatly appreciated.

Now, when I plug my speakers into the rear panel, realtek device manager still shows that I have not plugged anything into the back jack, and I have checked about 10 times to make sure it is in the right hole, this is also the issue with my microphone, when I try to configure my speakers, it shows a red "x" and says "not plugged in" I don't know what the issue may be, it does the same for microphone as well, and I can't figure out how to fix this. Also the "configure" and "set default" button's are grayed out and I can't click them.

Also I am trying to use analog speaker's if that makes any difference with responses.



P.S It does the same for the headphones jack in the front of the computer as well. When I do plug in my headphones all I hear is a fuzz, and with the speakers and the rear jack, I hear some what of what sounds like a dog whistle.

Do you get any sound at all? Like when the system boots into windows and you can hear the welcome sound?

I don;t get a panel for my headphones and they work fine.

Right click on the panel that says "speakers" and follow the test in that.

Do the same for all the other panels.

Get back to us with the results...

No, I can't even hear the welcome sound, and even when I try to test the speakers it wont let me, it seems it has it completely disabled some how and I don't know how to enable it, I took another screen shot if that helps. I also think the only problem I have is just getting the speakers to enable, if I could do that I have a feeling it will work.

I know that this is going to sounds silly but can you double check that your speakers are plugged in not only to the back of the PC but also to some power ( if it comes with a plug to the mains power)

Do you have a friend you can borrow a set of speakers from for testing.

I want to eliminate faulty speakers or faulty:

Speaker inlet ( the boards where you plug the speakers into) or Sound card

I borrowed my friends speakers and still no luck, I had an old sound blaster live sound card in my old machine and I threw it in this one, and I have sound for now, only problem now is that the front jack can't be used for headphones so I really want to fix the on board one.

It looks like it could be a faulty sound card and because they are integrated with the MB you will have to take it in for a repair. Is it still under warranty?
