hey, y'all - just installed Vista HP 64 bit and it went pretty good, for the most part.
I am dual booting w/XP Pro 32 bit, on seperate hard drives. I'm pretty impressed so far.
I do have one major problem - no sound at all.
Here's my hardware setup:
asus p5q pro, Intel c2d e8400, saphire radeon 4850, auzentech x-fi prelude, logitech z-5500, seagate 320gb sata(XP Pro), seagate 640gb sata(vista).
soundcard & spkrs. work great in XP.
I went to auzen website & d/l latest drivers, drilled down thru all the vista options & menus I could find, checked device mngr., and still no luck.
Anybody got any ideas ?

Dwarf - thanks for the reply, I was thinking the same thing.
Driver supports Vista, but not x64.
I thought I had heard that other people had used it in x64 but maybe not.
What would my other sound options be - uninstalling the Auzen and going back to mobo sound?

Try enabling the onboard sound card and see if Vista picks it up or windows update or check the mobo website if there is 64bit support for your onboard sound card. If you want to buy a sound card then from my experience creative sound cards should be good.

I have the same problem - try to update the Auzentech drivers which seems to work, but the volume mixer icon indicates there is no audio apparatus installed, even though it mentions the Auzentech card. It also shows up as working in the System Manager and Sounds tab - anyone any idea what could have gone wrong (and yes, I did reboot after the install, so that can't be the problem). For the record, before the update the card worked perfectly...

And to make things even more complicated I DID get sound when the card tested for virtual surround - but apparently it doesn't show up in any other application. Plus, the volume knob on every window of the Auzentech console software is grayed out and inacessible...
