No Recovery program in Vista??..
Hi.
First post. I basically joined to get some answers to this odd problem.
I bought a Dell PC with pre-installed Vista.
I was trying to get Norton Ghost recovery set up but have no restore point.
It appears my PC has no restore program (rstrui.exe)??
I dont even get the option in the usual following way;
To create a restore point manually,
- Click Start
- Right click on My Computer
- Select Properties
- From the tasks pane on the left, click System Protection
- Select a disk (place check mark in box if it is not already checked) from the list, usually C:, and click on the Create button.
- Type a name to describe this restore point (ex. "Before driver update")
- Click Create button
It appears I dont have the rstrui.exe program?
Can it be downloaded.
If not, is there other 3rd party restore point programs.?
Hello Stonedog, and welcome to Vista Forums.
If you click on the
System Restore button in that same System Properties window. It will open the System Restore (rstrui.exe) window.
Hope this helps,
Shawn

I dont have that option. I dont have the program even on my HD?
Oh, ok. Here it is below in a ZIP file. It should be located at
C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe.
If that does not help, then try running a
sfc/ scannow command to see if it may be able to.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
