First system I build has been running without any issues for almost a year, Home Premium Vista 64. Today the network connection icon is crossed out, have not been able to establish a network connection or open any programs for that matter. When I start windows with networking in safe mode the network connection works fine, I can launch explorer and everything seems normal.
I have a second computer attached to the same router and it runs fine. Have reset the router and switched cables just in case that was the problem.
Have not updated any drivers for hardware or BIOS.
Some of the things I can do and I can't do in normal mode
-Windows Live Mail...stuck at signing in (due probably to a lack of connection).
-Windows Media Player..opened library and then freezes
-Open Org ...nothing. Can't even open control panel, explorer, mozilla, firewall, etc.
-Real HD Audio Manager works fine, can test the speakers and runs normally
-SKype runs but can't sign on...obviously
-Can't open network connections, get a blank window that when I close wipes all the icons on the screen and have to reset system
Checked the forums but I am unsure what my next step should be, so any help is appreciated.
