No Drives were found

Hi all,

I have a problem with my Laptop, due to hitting it after getting so frustrated with it (Stupid thing to do i know).

Anyway after that happened it wouldn't start up, it just came up with a black screen saying:

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 082)
copyright (c) 1997-2000 intel corporation

For Realtek RTL8139(X)/8130/810X PCI Fast Ethernet
Controller v2.20 (060711)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PSE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.

Operating system not found.

So then I inserted the Vista Operating Disk which brought me to a screen saying:
Where do you wan to install Windows?
Underneath there was a message saying:
No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation.

After that point I could go no further after trying for hours.
I also tried using the windows Xp disk which only brought me to a screen saying:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

I've read heaps of others forums with exactly the same issue as mine but still can't get anywhere as i'm not the best with computers.. I noticed that a lot of people talk about Bios setup. When i go into it, it has under the heading BOOT:
Boot Prority order:

1:Internal CD/DVD: Optariarc DVD RW AD-7530B-(P..
2:Internal HDD:
3: USB FDD
4:USB KEY:
5:Network: Realtek Boot Agent
Exluded from boot order

If anyone could please help me it would be greatly appreciated! I've been trying for two weeks now..

Hi Atchy and welcome to Vista Forums

Refer to your laptop manual. Try physically removing the hard drive and then reinstalling it as it could be a loose connection. Is it being detected in your BIOS? Even if it is, it still needs to appear in the list of bootable drives.

Hey Dwarf Thanks for the reply :)

Well I've looked all over my laptop and can't find anywhere where the hard drive is located.. The only place it could be is under a cap that says Warranty Void If Seal Damaged so I reckon it would have to be under there but I can't touch it..

Any other ideas?

Sorry Atchy, but Dwarf is right.

You need to reseat the hard drive.

If you feel uncomfortable doing this, then take your computer to a place like BB Geek Squad or a PC tech, for them to help you.
