No Administrator Account

I am new to Vista and I created an account when I set up the computer. I then set up another user account for the administrator and changed the first account I set up to a regular User account. (I am thinking this is where all or part of my problem is.)

Now my problem, when I log into Vista, the only account that shows up is my user account and I can not see my administrator account. When I go to switch users it is not there. Now my son is trying to load software and it will not let him and is asking for an admin password. When I type the administrator password it is giving an eror message "Logon Failure: the user has not been grated the requested logon type at this computer."

I am at a lost now. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to local security policy and make sure that he is not in deny local access. You could always go to a remote computer and login via mstsc.exe (remote desktop connection, if enabled) if he has been denied local access.

To do this via cmd its

mstsc.exe /v (his computer name) /f

To find computer name go to cmd and type
Echo %computername%

If remote connection works you can activate the administrator account by typing this into cmd (elevated)

net user administrator /active:yes

If that dosent work boot in safe mode and try to log into the administrator account from there. See http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/123496-safe-mode.html

You could also try booting from recovery disks if you have them, then gain access via that. See http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/91467-startup-repair.html

He could try to log in remotely like i said or safe mode or something.

OK, so what is mstsc.exe? How does one go about logging in remotely? What if remote desktop isn't enabled? Will Safe mode work if I can't use the administrator password locally? Is there any other way without using a remote login?

I actually couldn't solve the problem, I took it to a local Computer Tech and they couldn't solve the problem either. So I had to order disk to re-build be machine from scratch.
