Hello,
Can you please help me, I have "lost" my data from pc after using NewSID. I tried to change sid and then after 40 min of display message "changing new sid" I restarted computer. After reboot I got an little surprise, All my files are gone, some programs loaded from programfiles. Then I saw that there are two users in the user folder, before, was only one called "mis" (no password) and now there is this second user"mis.mis-PC" from here I can access program files, documents (empty), desktop (empty) but I cannot use most of the operations that use "user account control" so I cannot access user "mis" because popup asks me to enter password to gain control, but there is no field to enter password and the "OK" button is grey (nonclickable). When I want to switch user there are: "mis" and "other user" icons. Same problems are found using any of them...
Can you please help I have data of my work form 6 months ago, ( I know backup , backup...) and losing of that data would be disastrous for my work 500.000$ value ( I know: backup , backup...), but please if you could help me with this, it’ll save my life. Thank you.

Try a REPAIR from the Vista Boot CD...If this gets you no where, do a new install...This will only delete your Vista System Files...( DONT FORMAT!!! )
You'll have to re-install the programs again though as well as the setup of your network, e-mail, etc. Saved files should still be on the drive...

PS: The 2nd "mis.mis-PC is only the NEW user it created....i think you used the same name as before...Also, i think the reason you cant access the files is because you must first get "Owner" rights...

Hey Mikica, I just registered on this forum because this, I had the same situation like you, I was fooling around with newsid, but anyway I had plans for a long time to reformat my hardrives(raid 0) only vista ultimate 64, no big problems runs good till now, (no admin), well.. I'll make my box double boot xp, and vista.

here: What do I do: I can no longer log in or elevate to an administrator account

Follow the instructions on this link, but only on the Option 3: The really hard way, when you get to the step 12, then you may transfer your precious data to an external hardrive or to the root of your hard rive c: etc.. good luck to you.
