I can remember people complaining about 98/ME, NT, 2000, XP, Server 2003 and XP 64bit for every single last change they have made in each new release, I find it confusing how people want the latest Operating System but make it preform the oldest operations possible. A good example is Vista`s Aero interface, I think its a good refresh of the Windows Interface but I see people complain about it constantly so I ask why does anyone want to upgrade only to complain about the way it works and "have to change things back" to older configurations just for the same look and operation they used 15 years ago...

Contradictory complaints or what?

Exactly - I want it different only just the same. And although I'm not one of the adherents of the Holy War, I would nevertheless like to know why transparency effects are so 'Ooh, Ahh!' lovely in OSX and so, yawn, passe in Vista. Remember how long it took to persuade people to move past DOS...

It sucks because its new and no one knows about the finished product.

People won't think things through - the Itanium is the perfect example. Everyone was tired of 32-bit, bored with the x86 instruction set, etc. But then again we don't want to have to replace all our now-legacy software. What! How the hell else did you think this was going to work, dummkopf?

Show me many 64-bit apps? I hope to never see Microsoft Office 64-bit. Or as I would call it. Microsoft Office.bloat

It's the old problem isn't it - Microsoft needs to make money, and so, has to convince us that we need a new version of Word every n months. Which we self-evidently don't. 64-bit Excel might be worth having for serious number-crunching though.

I hate the office ribbon interface, It massively complicated a good basic interface from the previous versions and forced everyone to get retrained in how to use the things they already knew how to use

I hear the Office 12 design team responsible for the ribbon interface are in charge of the Windows 7 GUI design and I hope to god they don't ever plan on using any interface like office anywhere in Windows 7 or Microsoft can ** **** ********

Luckily someone made an addon for Office 12 to add the classic menus back, It saved us lots of $$ from retraining everyone :D

I like the ribbon once I got used to it. Photoshop, A/V apps, and CAD should be 64-bit to use all 16GB of RAM. They require heavy IO processing. I see CS4 will directly hit a 280 video card for even faster post processing.
