New updates won't install

Hello,

I updated and installed the important one which are all three, but they all failed to install. They all are KB2533523, KB2539636, and KB2468871. They are all new updates for today. The error code for all three of them is 643. They all are .NET Framework 4.

Why won't they be installed?

Thank you.

Hello,
Thank you. I followed this link, You receive error 0x80070643, error code 0x643 or updates may be re-offered when you try to install .NET Framework updates when using Windows Update or Microsoft Updates and did Method 2. It looks like .Netframework 4 was installed. But, one won't install and it failed to install. It is Security Update for Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 SP1.

Should I hide that update or what should I do?

Thank you again.

Should I update from top to bottom individually? What if Security Update for Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 SP1 continue fail to install?

It continues to fail installing, and I am now updating the other one individually.

Thanks again.

Try to install while in Safe Mode.
Be sure you did not receive these already
Be sure that you have Net Framework 4

All of these failed to install. I installed them at one time.

How can I do SAFE MODE?

I used this,

Method 2: Repair the .NET Framework

To repair the .NET Framework you must uninstall multiple versions of the .NET Framework by using the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool, and then reinstall the components.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Download the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool from the following link: .NET Framework Cleanup Tool User's Guide
2. Using the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool, uninstall the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5.

Note The cleanup tool does not let you remove the .NET Framework 2.0 in Windows Vista or later versions because the .NET Framework is installed as an operating system component.

3. Restart the computer.

4. Download and install the following components:

.Net Framework 1.1: Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package
.Net Framework 1.1 SP1: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (this will also install .Net Framework 2.0 SP2 and .Net Framework 3.0 SP2) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
5. Restart the computer

6. Visit Windows Update, and then check for and install updates.

I then checked Updates to see if there are new updates, and they gave me all .NET Framework to install, even though, I already installed them before with the tool above. Should I hide those updates that I already have? I only need to install .NET Framework 4.

I am now uninstalling all .NET Framework with the tool above and am going to install .NET Framework from 1.1, 1.1 SP1, and 3.5 SP1 before checking Updates.

Thanks again.

Ok,
I have followed all of these above, and now there are two .NET Framework in Control Panel right now after uninstalled with the tool and then reinstalled 1.1, 1.1 SP1 and 3.5 SP1. Is that normal?

I then checked the Windows Updates and there are four important updates. All of three are installed fine, except Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB929). I already installed 1.1 SP1 from above in the link, and is that why it failed to install because I already have it installed? But, strangely, I already installed 3.5 SP1 from the link and then installed it again from Windows Updates, it installed fine.

I have hidden that update and then checked the updates again. Now there is one update which is Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows Vista x64-based Systems (KB982670).

That was installed fine.

I then checked Windows Updates again, and there are four updates which is .NET Framework 4.

Now, only one, Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2518870) installed fine, while the other three failed to install which are,

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2539636)

Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2468871)

Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2533523)

So, I am hiding these for now.

I then checked Windows Updates again and there is one update, Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2478663)

That installed fine.

I noticed there is Security before .NET Framework 4, is that the same as Net Framework 4 or is there I need to install it? As I mentioned above, regarding the three updates failed to install, there are two .NET Framework 4, but they failed to install.

As for other updates, I am really frustrated with these since this morning and am taking a break until tomorrow to try it in SAFE MODE.

Thanks again.
