Good morning..I have been an XP user (quite happy) for years..i have a vista system and have been trying to navigate the learning curve..
i have a couple of questions i hope somebody might be able to answer
1) I have a brand new WD portable hard drive that my Vista computer will not recognize. When I tr to mive files to it, it says there is not enough room in an empty drive..
2) For some reason, this system will not allow me to open jpeg's i get in emails..

if anyone has some tips for how to get around these problems, could you share them please ?

thanks

Go into disk management. What does the drive show up as? Was it used on another computer and has a hidden partition not seen? You might need to import it as a foriegn drive or format it.

Usually you want an external drive on one computer only due to file system changes. I would figure out which computer is will stay on and set it up for that one.

While in settings make sure you:

1. Check the 'Internet zone (Less secure, but more functional)' box.
2. Uncheckthe 'Do not allow attachment to be saved or opened...' box.
3. Uncheck the 'Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail' box.

But be aware that doing this makes your pc more vulnerable to attacks from viruses.

That is not how to fix it. There is a setting for opening pictures in IE

Internet Options- advanced-multimedia-show pictures.

thanks guys...i tell you what , the learning curve is basically what i am struggling with..i used XP to print labels for cd's my band gives away and none of those can be brought up..the roxio version 9 does not recognixe those...it's just tha a lot of my material needs to go out now and when you have it down to a science and you have to relearn everything, it means a lot more time at the computer than i alloted..

again, your suggstions are really appreciated
