New PC

I am going to uprade finally after 6 years and was looking for some opinions on what I should get. I am looking at a new I7 920 pc and was wondering if that would be my best option seeing as how I don't have the money to upgrade very often. I don't do alot of gaming but would like a system that can handle games. I want to use my new system for video rendering and music.
If anyone has any thoughts as to what they might buy I am interested in any ideas..

Thanks, Munch

Welcome to the forums Munch:)

First of all, I would recommend building your own system. Depending on where you live you can order the parts at an online retail store (USA for example newegg) and then put the system together yourself. It will not only save you A LOT of money, but it's also just fun to do:D

Second of all, I think we'd be of more help if you would provide us with a maximum budget:)

Thrid, if you really don't want to buy it yourself you could go for a dell XPS (Dell XPS-desktops) or an Alienware ( Compare Gaming Desktops Custom Built For PC Gamers - Alienware) system.

Keep us informed of your choice!

Thanks Amplid for your reply

I am able to spend $1500.00 and I need a printer in that budget. I configured a system at Cyberpower for $1288.00 delivered. I7 920, 4870 512MB, 500gb HD, 3gig mem. I am not sure how well built Cyberpower pc's are so let me know if you have had any experience with this company, good or bad.

Thanks again, Munch

Hi Munchmouth, welcome to the board.

Congrats on your upgrade project. $1500 is going to a nice new built with all the new stuffs just came out. Here I put up a list of a unit that will make me jealous which will handle pretty much anything. Assuming you are using your existing OS, it adds up to be $1510.00 with rebates and all. Please take a look and let us know what you think. If there are any questions on the parts and in the building process, please feel free to ask. We'll be with you all the way. Wish you an excellent experience in building this computer. Yaaaaaa!!!

most importantly you're happy with your new rig!
its also good to consider your purpose, if it serves its purpose it ok.

that is my simple principle on buying things.

You're welcome Munch,

Well I live in Europe and prefere to build my own systems so no, I don't have any experience with cyberpower what so ever. Some of my friends have an Alienware though and are very happy with it, but as I already told you, building it yourself is much cheaper. I searched for the exact same components as in my friends alienware and put them in a chart and the price was over 200 dollars cheaper.. But you know if you want it fast and don't have the time to learn, then go for the Cyberpower, because I think you pay a little more for the name at Alienware then you do at Cyberpower. Try searching for the components in that Cyberpower pc you configured at www.newegg.com and you'll see it's a lot cheaper.

And, as bruce said, if you do decide to build one yourself, we'll be with you all the way and enjoy it!!;)

Hi Munch, you are welcome. Sorry about being so nutty about building computer; got a little too exited. Just try to give you an idea what can you do with the money if building it yourself. By the time when you are ready, the price on many parts (hopefully the DDR3 rams) will go down which leave you more options in selection. Let us know when it is time, then we start from there. Happy holiday!!!
