New PC - home premium32bit problem

problem possibly related to mic.

I have an issue with my new pc.
I am pretty sure it is cause by something related with the microphone;
applications like VOIPs (ventrilo and teamspeak) take a long time to open/edit options and while doing so, the whole PC is frozen up. The same happens with xfire (a game messenger app.- when I edit the options related to microphones)

I am stumped as to the cause because one day it was working, then it wasn't. I've reformatted and reinstalled software and it still occurs.
I've tried two different headsets(one a USB one normal, both requiring no installation cd) to no avail.

Could go for any help I can get.
Thanks in advance, Adam.

wow thanks for the amazing help...

Could you please enlighten me, did you get help from another part of the forum or is your post being sarcastic because no one has answered you.

You have to remember you only made the post a day ago and it is a holiday period, so coming back after only a few hours and being sarcastic is not going to get you the help you need, someone who may be able to help could very well still be on holiday and not using their computers yet, sorry but you have to give a bit more than a day for people to see your post and respond. ;)

I was being sarcastic believe it or not, and I figured out what fixes it, I just don't know what causes it.
replugging my g15 fixes the issue(but I have to do it every startup)

By G15 I take it you mean the "Logitech G15" keyboard? Have you been to Logitechs website to check for G15 driver updates?

are both of your headsets USB ? have you tried different USB slots, and/or using a jack microphone to see if this solves it? Perhaps a USB connectivity problem. In this case, you should download latest chipset drivers and updates for your motherboard.

one usb, one normal 3.5mm jacks.
I've looked into it a lot and quite a few people have g5's with their g15 and have the same issue, would that be relevant?
