my trusted MX1000 laser mouse has up and died on me , ive narrowed it down to the logitech G5 or the razer coperhead , ive even read a review comparing the two head to head and i still cant decide .............

does anyone have either and use it for gaming? what would you recommend?

I personally use the G5, and I love it.

I've heard many of great things about the Razer line though.

What it really comes down to is preference, I'm quite sure both
mice will work fine for gaming.. so the issue is what you personally prefer.

Compare their specs and see which one has the most of what you deem 'important'
and go for that one.

Also the thing to keep in mind with gaming mice nowadays is mostly their 'feel'.

A 'good' gaming mouse wont do YOU any good if it doesnt sit comfortable in your palm.

IF at all possible I suggest trying them out at a computer store and compare how they feel

What Ayporos said. The mouse can have all the bells and whistles going, but it isn't worth much if it is uncomfortable in the hand.

I know , ive been gaming on the pc for 20 years ;) ;) ;) ;) I played the original Doom ;) Not with a mouse i might add :P

All jokes aside though you are of course correct :D Ive gone for the G5 mainly because of the weights (they are extra with the razer) hopefully i can get the G5 to the same weight as my current mouse , that would go along way to getting used to a new mouse , it takes me a good few weeks. Not sure if ill be using the full 2000dpi ingame but another usefull feature of the G5 is the ability to adjust the sesitivity on the fly , excellent feature , i can switch between 800dpi for general running about and spraying bullets up to 2000dpi for sniping.

Thanks for your input it seems ive made the right choice :D

I still think my original Logitech Mouseman Dual Optical (wired) is the best mouse ever though... and if my G5 ever breaks for some odd reason I'll just hook that back up and be a happy fragger =D

For some reason I've never been able to get my original fragging aim skills back once I switched from my dual optical to the G5 =(

I'm using a G5 as well and I love it. I'd definitley recommend it as well. Used some Razer mice, including the Copperhead and Lachesis, and in terms of comfort, I don't think they compare to the G5 at all.

If you've been using a Logitech mouse for a while, then the G5 shape will certainly be familiar and comfy for you :)

And my aiming improved considerably when I got my G5 :p

Mouse, what is this mouse you speak of?

Years of KB only Wolf 3D, Heretic, Rise of the Triads and Doom made adopting the mouse a little difficult. I even played Quake with KB only for a while until I saw the light :p

I play Team Fortress 2 and use the Logitech G9. It has DPI settings ranging from 200 to 3200. I absolutely love it. 2 Different Grips, Customizable weight and 2 scroll wheel modes. Best mouse I have owned.

I used to have a G7. Wireless Optical. Not too many bells and whistles. However, it is rechargable with 2 batteries. Would also recommend.

Yep ;) But now I can't stand playing anything like FPS on anything, but the PC. :p

My old bluteooth mouse was fine for desktop stuff, but poor in games so I didn't mind using the 360 controller, even on the PC.

Then I got my Lachesis.... ;)

bah, wireless.

I know a lot of people swear by it but tbh batteries add weight and not to mention the performance of wireless mice is so-so.

When you have bad batteries and power fluctuations your pointer goes wtf
when your batteries are running low your pointer goes wtf
when there's a lot of interferrence from sender to receiver your pointer goes wtf

Ofcourse over the last few years wireless mice have become better and better but I still would never want to own one simply because in theory they CAN NOT be better than wired mice. Also I hate charging stuff =D

Though I don't understand why Razer's new "gaming" mouse is wireless...

It is a great mouse. I found it to be a lot more accurate in CSS as well, especially with the weights.

Just make sure to set the rate to 1000Hz in setpoint as well for that extra few milliseconds response time ;)

And set up some DPI profiles in setpoint, too, that you can switch between. Like I have 5 settings for 650, 800, 1200, 1600 and 2000 dpi, and it's great being able to switch between them at the click of a button.

yes guys i have all the profiles set in increments of 400 and the polling is indeed set to 100 ;) I find the highest 2000dpi setting suits me well in COD 5

my main problem is setting up the weights at the moment i have 4 x 1.7grm in each corner im trying to balance it out equally but im not sure if thats the answer , i know this is a daft question but just so i can give it a shot how do you have your weights set?
