New Build, Wolfdale or Kentsfield?

suggestions?? both at $225, or thereabouts

have not decided on a new motherboard, but the remaining specs below will be the same, just swapping out motherboards and RAM

Six of one and a half dozen for the other really. Both are great chips with very nice overclocking headroom. It really boils down to how you intend to use the PC. If you do a lot of photo/video editing that can take advantage of multiple cores, then definitely go with a quad Kentsfield. But if gaming's your thing, you will probably want to take advantage of the Wolfdales's faster clock speeds since most current games won't take advantage of the extra cores anyway.

PS - don't know if you saw that Intel halved the price of their Q6700 today, that might weigh on your decision as well.
