Networking vista and xp

I just installed Vista Business 64-bit. So with no firewalls, and IP6 disabled, I can manually access an XP machine, and the XP machine can access me. There are a few problems though. The XP machine doesn't show up in the network computers; I have to manually type the computer name in the search bar. Also, the XP machine can't see any network games hosted on the Vista machine. When I try to transfer files to the XP machine from Vista, it goes REALLY slow.

There are no firewalls. Vista is a fresh install. Network discovery is on. File sharing is on. Public folder sharing is on. Password protected sharing is off.

Link layer topology discovery downloaded from Microsoft sorted this very same problem for me.
