network query

i notice an extra lan address appearing in my router.
i have the mac address filter on limiting access to both network pcs yet still this address appears.

e1:6c:d6:ae:52:90 192.168.0.180

could it related to my cordless keyboard / mouse ?

any ideas appreciated.

First is IP v6, seond IPv4.

I don't think so... Until now I haven't heard mouse/keyboard with link to a router. rescan your network. It could be your neighbor! hehehhe

i am referring to a lan address that appears in in dgl4100 router with my 2 allowed mac addresses.

e1:6c:d6:ae:52:90 ( is the unknown mac address) 192.168.0.180( is the ip being used)
bit of background i have a wired network only, using 2 pcs on a dlink dgl4100 . One pc running xp, the other running vista ultimate 32 bit.

i was only speculating the extra connection has me baffled
the only wireless receiver i have is the mouse/keyboard so how could he do that ?

Hi Ydb1,

Do you know what Interface that unknown system is trying to connect on? (Internal External?) It might be a VirrtualMachine if you have one intalled..have you tired pinging the IP or doing a tracert?

Thanks Steven , no virtuals installed i went into the router admin and found on dchp server it was allowed, so disallowed it.t he mac address doesnt match anything i have , the msn ones i have no idea what they are either. i am running scans on both pcs atm to see what come up..

nevermind this, i appear to have fixed the problem

the router had Universal Plug and Play enabled..
