Network hardware

hello there,
im just curious, lol. for my tafe assignment we have to design a netowkr for networking and Multimedia classes, and i was wondering if anyone new of some good networking equipment that i could use for it.

I know some good models but its simply inaffordable for home users. I will search for some good models and will let you know.

wot i have to do it for is for my TAFE/College class and we need to make a network for a company so it wouldn't matter about price we have an unlimited budget!!

Just use something like a Cisco 2600 series router.

As for the switches, how many ports do you need on each one?

i need to support say about 40PCs a Server, and maybe a network Printer, i cant really think of much else

I'm not sure. They're what I used when I was in college, so I just put them down

There's Cisco 2811 routers, as well, or any of the 2800 series.

So I'm guessing you're going to have a switch for each subnet with the PCs and server connected to it? The Cisco Catalyst 4948 switch has 48 ports on it.

i ended up choosing a Cisco Catalyt 3750-e switch and a Cisco 1801
