network connection icon and sharing center

So My computer has been working fine and then two days ago I turned it on and the network connection icon wouldnt change from disconnected even though I was. Also I tried opening up the Network Sharing center but after several minutes of it not appearing I finally had to shut it down through task manager. Now, this still is occurs and if I try to just right click and repair it takes forever and then finally says there isn't anything wrong. The connection though is screwed up and no longer functions correctly. It isn't the internet or an ISP problem. I will be playing an online game and it will run smooth for a few seconds then stutter then be smooth then stutter and its the computer slowing down not the internet. I checked the four services for networking to make sure they are on and auto and they are. Also, my computer has crashed a couple times, since all this started, to blue screen saying it has had memory problems. I have 4GB of memory and there are no issues with space and or lack of cpu power, 3.0 Ghz dual core, 9800gtx+ graphics card and Asus M3N78-EMH HDMI mobo with gibabit LAN. Somehow something in Windows changed and I have no idea what or how it did. Os is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Any ideas would be appreciated. Let me know of more info would help. Thak you

Well, if you have BSODs and it says you have memory problems then you might be having memory problems. Run a mem test. Post the BSOD, take a picture of it and post what it says.

Hey Airbot,
I ran the memory diagnostic tool and the only thing it said was that there was a hardware issue. It still ran the test 100% but gave no other information. I'm not happy but I am also curious as to why only network related things have issues. Like I said the computer runs as it did before and the programs I use work fine but the network connection icon wont change from a red x. I have to open the network center from the control panel because the icon is frozen and when right clicked will show the options but not highlight or do anything if clicked. Also, still no change with the fact that when playing online games it will run and then slow dramatically then run then slow, etc. One is its own application and the other is Runescape which is entirely run through Firefox or any browser. If it truly was a hardware issue why would everything still run. the BSOD only sems to occur when I try to launch the Sharing center from the icon on the random occasions it highlights the options. I have to kill it through task manager so I'm assuming the memory problem is somehow related. Another thing I am curious about is that neither game taxes my system or memory resources anywhere near to full capacity. (For the game that uses its own software I still have almost 2 out of the 4GB not being used and the cpu only gets to about 52-53% busy). Also, I can watch streaming video and movies with no problems, frame skips, pauses for more buffering or anything of the sort. Haven't had the BSOD to take a pic of since I learned to open the sharing center not through the icon and am reluctant to force it to happen again. Contacting the people I bought it from tomorrow, but to be honest I stil think it is a windows issue versus hardware.
