Usually they have to be reset because the current or prior update did not install properly. The solution given does not always work.

When you update, install a few at a time.
Look at size, large size should install only one or two, smaller can install more each time.

Hi all,

This is a personal question as I have the same issue & by no means a hi-jack of the thread.

Q.
Are you able to activate power shell in Windows features?

I am unable to activate it & believe this is the root cause of the update failure.

What are your findings?

Have tried both those options but this still persists in coming up. Have tried so many times now I am beginning to wonder if there is way of deleting the reminder:mad:

Edit: Just as matter of interest the update history is telling me that I have never installed any updates - yet when I cleaned this machine up it downloaded quite a few.

Thanks Richard I'll give them a go as the MS Fixit site didn't do anything.

No go mate have done just about everything now including that incredibly long readiness tool install.

I will just have to see if she can find the disk that the machine came with and do a format and reinstall or put Windows 7 on it - this is so very frustrating>:-(

Hi,

If you run the "Reset tool"
in an agresive mode (It does not recommended it though?), as I did, it reset the windows update history & I am now running Windows update to find the updates I need.

It has found the hiden driver updates (Now hiden again) & the problematic update from ealier.

Trying an update now. I will be back when it has finished!
