My Vista Business SP2 workstation is logging on to my Windows 2003 Standard DC Sp2 server.

I also have Windows XP Pro SP3 workstations on the network

The Server uses net send /domain:home this is a test message to the home network

All servers and XP workstations get the message

The Vista workstations do not receive any boardcast messages

In XP you start the messenger service

Have not found one on vista

msg.exe allows me to send messages from the vista workstation but I do not any network broadcasts from the server on my VIsta pc

Any ideas or suggestions

Thanks

Tom

The messenger service is gone in Vista (and Win7). It's an outdated mechanism based on NetBIOS datagrams. There are 3rd-party replacements, but you're really better off relying on more robust enterprise management tools like SCCM to perform client management tasks.

I found msg.exe which allows me to send a message to the domain but I only get the message on the vista pc no other pcs or servers get the message I used this "msg * test" I do not understand why this is so hard to figure out
