Across the board, a common complaint with Vista owners is compatibility with hardware. Even with some NEW hardware that claims to be Vista Compatible, problems are not unheard of.
Maybe part of the problem is that there are so many different versions of Vista.
I dunno!
I'm lucky, I guess, that I really don't
have to run Vista.
I only run it for testing purposes and not as my Primary OS.
XP fills that spot in my life and my one Epson Photo printer, one AIO and one Epson Scanner all work perfectly.
Over the past 28 years, I've had to work on all brands and models of printers, scanners, plotters and copiers and Epson is by far my favorite of the whole bunch.
I just saw a little Epson AIO at
Office Max a few days ago, for only $60.
I almost bought it, just for General Principles.
What I really gets me, in Vista, is all their high level of "Security" that won't let the owner and only user access the things that he/she needs to access to properly run their PC.
UAC is just one little item.....and I summarily shut it OFF when I first set up a new PC with Vista on it. I do that in one second, with a little script.
When you first install or setup Vista on a new PC, there should be ONE button there that says "I want it all!"
(just a personal observation and preference)
That would solve 90% of the problems that people have with Vista.
I bought the computer....I paid for Vista, , , and for the OS to tell me I don't have permission to do something, ticks me off beyond all reason.
Since the day I first installed Vista Ult. on my PC, I've been fighting for permission to do this or that. There are ways to gain permission for certain files and folders, but it's not an exercise for beginners and it's a real pain in the britches.
I wish some really smart programmer would write a script that would grant all permissions to every part of Vista. They could sell that program and be as rich as B. Gates overnight.
Happy Computing!
The Shadow
PS: Just out of box, Vista is just too strange for many users, but with a little tweaking and tuning it can be made to look and act a lot like XP. Then it's a pretty good OS, and actually does certain functions FASTER than XP.
