Need help with .Part

Everything I download ends up with a exe.part file. It's never just .exe. I tried download registry cleaners and what not but I cant open any of the files. Everything online says download this program to fix .part files but those files are also .part . Anyone know anything about this issue that can help direct me on a clear path to fixing it. Im not to computer savvy. But some clear information would help. Thanks a lot!

What browser are you using?

.part is usually the extension given to a file that is currently downloading and is then renamed after completion. Are you sure all the downloads are actually completing 100%?

Have you tried removing/removing the file to remove the .part? ie rename "file/exe.part" to "file.exe"

I am using Firefox. When I do rename the file to just .exe, a window pops up and says "Could not find this item". Also, "This is no longer located in C:\Users\xxx\Desktop. Verify the item's location and try again. I click on Try Again and the window blurs out and comes back over and over.

In fierfox, verify your download location.

Tools>options 'Download field' save files to

If it's the desktop, you may want to create a new folder or move to another location.

It almost sounds like the files on the desktop are links and not the actual files.

I tried to relocate where the files save to, as you mentioned. Now the files don't even show up in the new location. When I go to start and search, I search for the file and when I try to open it it gives me an error message. Problem with Shortcut. It says the file has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut? So weird...

I think it would be best to navigate directly to the folder and click on the file directly.

They may not be appearing in the start/search because they are either not indexed yet, or a in a location that is not indexed at all.
