Need help to define what memory stick i need

Hi all, new to these forums i hope i posted in the right place.

Sadly my beloved toshiba equium A200 laptopmet with some cava after my darling husband knocked a glass over it, and its bit the dust. I couldnt afford a new one, so have kindly been given a desktop. However i find it very slow, particularly when multi tasking, which i am frequently doing between graphics programs and office, plus the net being a webmaster.

The desktop is a DixonsXP EI system 205 A 32 bit with 512 mb ram. It has vista home basic installed. I have beentold it might help to buy more memory sticks for it, i have two available slots. But i am not sure which type i need to buy. Any help would be great. I have advanced system info installed, so if anyone needs more to go on let me know. Thanks in advance

You can go to this site and let it scan and will tell you the details of suitable memory upgrade.

thank you i came across that site on yahoo answers a few hours back, but after the scan it said it couldnt define what my memory type was. I have since been looking into system info a bit more and i think its this: DDR2 PC2-4300

Does that sound about right?

Yes that sounds right..... pc4300 = DDR2 533mhz

just to be sure you can D/L this app....CPUZ ..& go to the memory tab, this will also indicate RAM speed & type...
