Solved names of panes

In a Vista Windows Explorer window, what is the right pane's name?

There is the Layout/Menu Bar/Details Pane, Preview Pane & Navigation Pane

but I don't see a name for this pane....I think maybe it is called the Folder Pane or Display Pane or the Folder Display Pane?

It would be the Preview pane for the right side.

No, Shawn, I'm sorry. The Preview Pane is on the far right upon being opened. The pane that one sees between the Preview Pane and the Navigation Pane is the pane I am asking about.

I don't believe there is a name for this pane. I have looked in three very large (around a thousand pages each) books on Vista: Windows Vista Secrets, Windows Vista The Missing Manual, and Using Microsoft Windows Vista. None of them name the pane. I call it myself just the Contents pane, because there is always some folder or drive on the Navigation pane that is selected, and in the right pane will be shown its contents.

Hi ger32,

Is it the area highlighted in red that you are on about? This section doesn't have a name as such, but I suppose that you could call it the Contents pane. The reason why it doesn't have a name is that the contents (and layout) of this panel depends on the type of folder selected in the Navigation pane.

If what LeeTutor is what you meant, then see if you can drag the border line of the Navigation Pane (right light) or Preview pane (left line) over more to allow the middle area to be seen again.

Hi,
It is odd that MS hasn't been diligent in the naming of this pane. With in mind the various answers above and my thoughts since the first question, I think it should be called the Navigation Content View Pane. I find it odd that MS has never named it. But thanks, all, for your input.

No problem Ger32. I believe MS just left it named simply as a window with the names of the optional panes that could be added.
