"mystery Icons"

Don't know for the life of me how these two desktop.ini "configuration settings" icons got on my desktop, I didn't create them and I'm being warned that removing them might cause WINDOWS or another program to no longer work correctly. From properties I can tell they both came with my machine (creation date) but both were modified at the the same time about a week ago. Anybody able to read this "Greek" and give me some advice?

Hi Hdbg62,

These are hidden protected operating system files used to store information about the folder that they are in. In this case the Desktop folder.

You would have done this in the Folder Options settings to unhide System Files. To hide these icons again, do step 5 in Option Two of this tutorial.
