Thinking of buying Myst 1, just want to know if i could play it on vista? If not, maybe like myst 4 or 5 or something (even though I hear the first is the best by far). Cna you even play those if you haven't played 1? Or is it like watching LOTR 3 without seeing 1 and 2?

Popped in my Myst Masterpiece Edition (Myst 1) DVD in on Vista Business 32-bit and suprisingly enough it works for me without any modifications. I popped in my Riven (Myst II) DVD and it also works without any modifications.

Installed Myst Masterpiece Edition, works fine until you go into the hut then it crashes every time. The only update I find for this version of myst stops it working in Vista altogether, the error states it doesn't work in Windows NT. However if someone knows of a patch that works with Myst Masterpiece Edition, which fixes the hut crash and runs on Vista then that game should run okay.

I also installed Myst V- End of Ages. Doesn't work at all, the developers know about it and are not going to fix it.

I also have the Myst Masterpiece DVD edition, but on my brand new gateway computer with Vista OS non of the animation works!! i.e. the people you see in the books in the first Myst, or doors opening in Riven, etc. Even worse, when I tried to play Exile the mouse just froze on the menu screen! Not to mention my recycle bin disappeared for no apparent reason and I had to google it to figure out how to fix that.:sa::sa::sa:
