Okay, I have a Toshiba Satellite. its probably two years old, running Vista Home Premium.
its been having troubles of all sorts booting for a while now, and yesterday I got the error code for a Corrupt Registry. been cleaning the fan I know it is not a like broken piece of hardware it probably is corrupt. Ive also noticed I can get it running until it begins installing updates from last december and january (ive pinpointed the Malicious software update as something that immediately after installing I cant boot up) Its also a persistant bugger that I cant get to stop sneaking into my updates. and then im here again (just ran a factory Reset... third time this week. If it werent for wanting this thing to function at optimum capacity i suppose I would disable windows update all together. so that it would always boot up like it did today. and yes i am considering disableing all updates.
a friend of mine pitched installing Linux as my operating system as he felt it would run worlds better. im skeptical.
I want to make this stop happening, means I do need help and am wondering what anyone has to say be it "yeah uninstall win update" or "yeah change OS" or if theres even a simple enough fix for this. I dont have the DVD for my computer although i have no reinstalled either service pack anymore and I do have a disk that came out in 2007. ? advice, would be appreciated. thanks.
the problem comes in many flavors but is generally the same. my computer stops booting up.
