Sorry if this is brought up earlier, didn't succeed searching the forum.

What I'm looking for is the functionality in Vista similar to spaces in osx leopard, see video here for an example:

I find it a bit odd that this is not included in vista.. or have I ignored it??
Probably not because I was able to find a third party app on the web; Vista Virtual Desktop Manager at Vista Virtual Desktop Manager - Home

But unfortenatly it didn't work too well on my computer, and anyway I'm really not a fan of adding extra apps for functions that should be core functionality (read: bloating and conflicts with other programs..)

Does anyone know something about this?
Any chance this kind of functionality will be included in SP1?

thanks

anyone?
nobody miss this functionality?

Yes! I did miss it very much! Although i did find an addon to do it that makes use of the Vista Aero API's. I too would rather not install 3rd party software to do this sort of thing but at least this one uses DWM to do it. You'll find it by googling "Vista/XP Virtual Desktops". This is faster than the 3d cube one which I found quite annoying when you've selected a cube-side and your just waiting for the desktop to become live again.

If you want something a little quicker you could use VirtuaWin, it's not so pretty to look at but still fine to use.

Be aware with Vista/XP Virtual Desktops on a laptop is that you probably don't have a num-pad, so you have to set the hotkeys to use the normal number keys... unfortunately windows vista (maybe xp too) uses Win+number keys to access quicklaunch programs and even removing your quicklaunch bar wont free these hotkeys up. so you'll have to change the hotkey's prefix to win+shift or something else.
