Solved msg bottom right of desktop

Could some please help?
I just re installed Vista Home Premium. It is an upgrade copy. I did a clean install which I have done many times before. No problems.
I just noticed this morning in the lower right corner
Windows Vista (tm)
Evaluation Copy. Build 6002

this caught my eye because I am also using Windows 7 on another maching and see the build number of that sysem.

I bought the copy of Vista and thought everything was OK.

I believe this happens when you have not validated your copy of windows after sometime, but I may be wrong...have you validated windows since the install?


Also, have you installed Vista SP2 Beta? if so, that would cause the watermark as well.

Hi Larry,

That would from the pre-release Vista SP2. I have the same message to.

When the final RTM version of the Vista SP2 is released, you will need to uninstall your current one first to update to the new one though.

A quick note. I deleted that beta sp2 and after it did the uninstall and restart and completed the delete. the message is still there and now it has build 6001. I believe in the original request for help the build was 6002.
Anything to worry about???

Na, nothing to worry about. It may even go away after a few restarts though now that you are back to only the activated Vista SP1.
