I use MS Paint a lot.
All of a sudden the Text Toolbar has disappeared. Yes, even when I am entering text and the tool is ticked in View-tab. What has happened, anyone?
The Font toolbar may have gone off screen. See if unlocking your taskbar and temporarily drag it to another screen border may reveal part of the Font toolbar at the bottom. If so, then you can just drag it back up and move the taskbar back down and lock it again.
Unfortunately there is no sign of the Text Toolbar along any edges (or under the Task Bar)
What I notice is that when I uncheck and then check again the Tool Box, Color Box, and Status Bar the colours of the menu letters remain black. But when I check the Text Toolbar the menu colour ant the top blue colour go grey (as if I have actrivated another window)
Maybe I activate the Text toolbar (which I cannot find) when I check Tex Toolbar?
That would be normal since the Paint window is no longer in focus and the mini Font toolbar window is. It seems that you definitely have the Font toolbar open somewhere since you are seeing that.
Did you ever have a second monitor attached to your computer? Perhaps it is offscreen on your main display and opening there instead.
Also see if increasing your screen resolution temporarily may reveal it just in case it's only offscreen a bit around one of the other borders than the bottom.
Yes, I use a second, large 1920x1080 monitor. Now, back in the office when I connected this I discovered that the Text Toolbar was right at the other side of this big screen. Since my main monitor is only 1280x800 the tool was outside the visible area and there is no way of "scrolling" sideways ourside the generic area. (Not even "print screen" could pick up the extra pixels as it does when the second monitor is connected).
I believe the problem recently arose when for some reason my second screen permanently become the first screen by accident: One day I closed down my laptop when the second monitor was connected and switced on. I don't know if it had anything to do with it but at the same time Microsoft made many automatic updates to my machine and ever since then my inbuilt screen has been monitor#2.
"2" is now my main monitor
I have tried everything but have not been able to swap the monitor numbers back.
Also the description of both monitors has become exactly the same, "Generic PnP Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS" , which is the inbuilt monitor. (I cannot remember what the description of monotor#2 was before but it is a DELL brand.
I can work with it but I guess if I don't make sure I move everything in things like Paint inside the 1280x800 area on the big screen before closing down and taking the laptop with me things can temporarily get lost.
Verdi, I'm, happy to hear that you found the toolbar and dragged it back over. That's about the only bad thing about using a secondary monitor with a laptop though.
If it's partially offscreen like above, then you might check your DPI settings to make sure that they are set to 96 DPI. If it is, then double check to make sure that you are using your native screen resolution.
If it's completely offscreen, then you may be able to use the tutorial below to drag it back.
