NVIDIA has released details on the Tegra processor that forms the brains of Microsoft's Zune HD. The company also talked about its plans for Tegra in both the netbook and mobile phone segments. We take a look at Tegra, and suggest that NVIDA quit flogging the "3D interface" line and just admit that "3D" means "games."

I'm a proud owner of a 2nd Gen Zune 80 GB. Though I find it wasteful to look for new handhelds at the moment (seeing as my Zune has been serving me very well for over a year now), I'm so tempted to buy one of these and import it. Zune HD sounded like a myth too good to be true at first, yet here it is!!!

I definitely think Microsoft did the right move by investing in handheld graphics. Although I see the Zune as a tough competitor in the market, nobody really saw anything special. But the Zune HD, with dedicated graphics is now one of the most (if not the most) advanced portables out there. Not to mention that the Zune HD is also a launch pad for Nvidia's Tegra, which seems to me like an awesome piece of hardware if the Zune HD can be sold for under $300. I loved the performance I saw on a few videos floating around Youtube.
