MOH Airborne won't play

I have Vista X64 on a Gateway FX system with an nvidia 8800 series video card. It will not play MOH Airborne or the new Call Of Duty. It usually gets just past the first video run and then freezes with repeating sound and the picture freezes with squiggly horizontal lines covering the entire monitor over the screen shot. It's not a lock up I have ever seen before and with Windows, unfortunately I've seen too many. I have tried all the usual fixes, patches, lowest settings etc. I have the newest nvidia drivers. Could it be the Realtek on board audio? Its supposed to be HD Audio. Tried to get their newest drivers, most of the download sites I've tried haven't worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed and can run COD4 with zero problems on Vista x64. Not even one hicup. Since it's a gateway and not home built (never know what's running in the background on a commercial build) you may want to call gateway and ask them what the problem could be. I'm also using onboard audio from an Asus P5Q mobo, so I don't think thats it.

what drivers are you using? do other games run ok? It sounds to me like your 8800 ram is either clocked to high or its bad , is it a new card?

I have COD running just fine on 64. I suggest you go to your sound icon found in the control panel and open. Click the advanced tab and reduce the default sound to 16 bit at 48000hz

that was an old fix to get around the "no sound" problem with the last patch , its fixed now , its not a sound issue mate the sound loop is caused by his gpu crashing for whatever reason

Just wanted to say thanks to archie123, avgwarhawk and Ratso for the replies. I opened up the case and found I hadn't switched out the 9800GT. I put a 8800GTS in and its been going strong with no problems since. Playin everything fine so far.

Hmmmm. Is the 9800gt broken? I play COD with the 9800GT. Strange.
