Please post the link to the entire article you are using to fix the problem (from which you extracted this posted section). Although I'm using IE9, I do not have that file on my system either (which makes me wonder if the instructions are appropriate so I'd like to check them myself).
What specifically is wrong with the save password feature and which password are you talking about - there are several password-related features in IE and I want to be sure I understand which one you are talking about and how it is a problem?
When did the problem start? If recently, perhaps a System Restore is the way to go instead of trying to repair the specific IE problem. Do you know when this problem began? Try a System Restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem began. Here's the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html. Be sure to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will have to re-install any software and updates you installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for the updates.
I hope this helps. Otherwise, I await the information and answers requested and we'll go from there.
