Hello, I have installed my Vista ultimate on one of my old systems that I want to upgrade but I was wondering, can I upgrade my CPU and reinstall Vista on it? I know XP had some type of thing where you can only use XP on the processor you registered it with.

You can replace the CPU and reinstall Vista if you want to. If you have Vista already installed, there is no need to reinstall it. However, replacing the CPU will most likely trigger a activation message and you will have to do a Phone Activation. This tutorial will show you how to do one step by step if needed.

I upgraded almost every part in my computer (motherboard, CPU, RAM, GFX card) and i never got anything asking me to reactivate or anything. Maybe i was just lucky :D
