Microsoft’s new free anti-malware solution gets closer

Last year Microsoft announced that it would end support for Windows Live OneCare, and turn instead to develop a new, free security product, code named Morro. We’ve heard that Morro has already been in limited alpha testing, that it’s based on the same security engine as Microsoft’s Forefront technology, and that most of the work for the new product is being handled by Microsoft in India.

It seems like Windows 7 will come with Morro, a built in Antimalware application.

I hope is not a resource hog nor paranoid pop-up provider like most security software nowdays.

Although it does look promising, except for the name that is. =P

I think you'll see a definite streamlining in anything new that comes out. Computing is really turning to a "doing more with less" model and new additions will be taking to this route, but that's just my opinion.

---yes, my friend is also using XP and does not want to use Vista because it uses more memory and when he plays online-games (like Everquest) it just lags too much---but myself, I just love Vista with all its new added options/features because I love NEW, new, new,---somehow the name Morro does not really grab me at all to run out and buy it, unless they will probably co-advertise it with a catchy phrase like - "tomorrow-is-here-with Morro"------(bite my tongue-eh?)---and yes, I can use malware-sec. also, (I use Avast for a/v)----

peace

You might want to have your friend download Windows 7 RC if they want to test it out. They can grab it here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx.
