Microsoft Lies about compatibility

I have kept a machine running XP Pro in order to support an oldie but goodie SCSI card interfacing my also oldie but goodie Epson scanner.

Just for grins I popped in the Vista Ultimate CD and, Hurray! it said this scanner is now supported under Vista, (it wasn't before).

Well, guess what? Installed the Vista Ultimate SIXTY FOUR BIT and found that there is a 32 bit driver supporting this card but Adapted has no intention to support 64 bit drivers for their old stuff.

I don't know why I continue to beat myself up with the 64 bit operating system - I can't say I notice any noticeable difference in performance and driver support is questionable - along with some aspects of system stability.

I guess there's no chance the 32 bit driver might work???

Any other ideas on getting scsi support in a pci slot, or usb I guess, at a reasonable price? I did clone the old opsys so I can drop back but I hate it.
