The downlevel release of 5 Troubleshooting Packs from Windows Vista are now live on the web. It is running off the Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services (MATS). These are the first to be released, there are more to be released in the coming months.

However, if you have Internet Explorer 7 or 8, you can use this diagnostic solution by following these directions


Then I got the following on Internet explorer:
RUN TIME ERROR (740)

You need to be in either Internet Explorer 7 or 8 to download and use. I've done just that, and what a handy little item it is too!

It would seem so, but there are still some quite useful tools to play with in the meantime. So look on the positive side......there are yet more to come!

It installed fine for Internet Explorer 32-bit v8.0.6001.18762. However, it doesn't work with Internet Explorer 64-bit. This is what I got from

We do not support the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. However, to use diagnostic solution, you can open a 32-bit version of Internet Explorer:
- Copy this link:

- Click Start. Then click Internet Explorer (the one without the "64-bit" suffix) to open an instance of 32-bit Internet Explorer.
- Paste the link into the address bar.

Did you happen to run Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Services on a Win 7 box? Microsoft ATS does not support running diagnostics on the Windows 7 operating system because diagnostics are shipped in-box with Win 7 (so they can actually be accessed via the Action Center in the Control Panel). Before Windows 7 is released to market, the Win 7 user experience will be to see specific steps about ‘how to’ run a diagnostic from the Action Center when trying to launch a Microsoft ATS diagnostic from the website. Error 514 was an early ‘block’ to keep the diagnostic from running on the Windows 7 OS, however, this is now be fixed and error 514 shouldn’t be displaying anymore.

I tried it using IE7, [32-bit version] installed Win Power Shell, got as far as "Detect probs" & selected "Allow me to fix---- "
then encountered two error messages "Can't proceed" 517
& "Access denied" 5.
Oh well............:cry:

Had another go at it later & it worked.:cool: Played around & yes it's good.:D

I received "error-407", which i guess is due to need of proxy authentication.
The problem is, they haven't provided an option of entering username and password to authenticate the proxy.
