Mic Output Skipping

Im having a weird issue with Vista when I use a mic over a live stream. The output from the mic skips rapidly. You can make out what I say, but, there is a very obvious and frequent(Every 1 second or so) tiny little skip. I cant figure out what the problem is. Ive never had this issue with XP.

I have a Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer with the very latest Vista Drivers.

Mine is doing this too, the way I fix this is (Windows 7) Right click the speakers icon in your taskbar >> Click Recording devices >> Click Microphone >> Click Listen >> Check the box next to "Listen to this device" Now click apply. >> Now click advanced >> On the default format, keep changing the channels until you can get DVD to not skip anymore. I would like a permanent fix for this if anyone can find out how.. It does this with Skype, Steam, and anything that uses a mic.

I found updating the sound driver fixes this sound dropping off every two minutes or so.
