Messages sent from Windows Mail appearing twice in Gmail?

Hello!

Am using Windows Mail to access my Gmail account (using IMAP) - all has been working fine until a few days ago. Now when I send a message in Windows Mail it appears to have been sent twice when I check my gmail?

At the moment I have got IMAP set to save sent messages on the server. Someone told me that I shouldn't have this as gmail already saves them. But when I set it not to save sent messages on the server, I don't have a record of my sent messages in the 'Sent Mail' folder on Windows Mail??

If I send an email (using Windows Mail) it doesn't appear in the 'Sent Mail' folder. But it is the 'Sent Mail' folder in Gmail?

Please help!!

Lets try this to start. On the top of WM there is a tab tools. In tools there is sync all. Well, click on that. Then test, see what happens.

hello
A few days ago there were some windows updates... Did you install them?

Every time windows updates or you install or uninstall a program, windows creates a restore point.

So maybe you could restore back to the time before windows updated!

I just looked and one of the updates was an email junk filter. maybe that affected your settings!

start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > pick the date of the updates, mine was 1/10/2010.....good luck have a look at your installed updates.

***EDIT*** sorry richc46 i was typing while you replied!!!!!

Its best to post in only one section We have people with expertise in various areas. Post in several sections, it will take longer to receive the correct answer. This is the correct section.

Thank you for this! (and apologies for posting too many times!)

Have done as suggested and 'Synchronized All' but when I send an email It still doesn't appear in my Sent Items (in Windows Mail)?

How many accounts do you have? If you are using G Mail, you message must be sent to them, so that they can resend. I think that if you look in one of your other accounts you will find the missing mail. Probably the account of your ISP (your internet provider) Maybe ATT or maybe Verrizon. I think that you understand what I am trying to say.
