Memory problem

I have similar problem as this guy here

I have geforce 8600 graphics card. System works perfectly with 2 gb, but if I try to use 4 gb or 6 gb, i get graphic glithces and screen goes black / system freezes. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? It's driving me nuts

Maybe your system just cant handle 4 or 6 gb? Is your computer a Windows Vista Ultimate x64 or x32? Also, it might be that one of the memory sticks are defective.

It is always a good idea to post your computer specs when asking for help. Also, try to give as much information to your problem as you can, this will take the guessing and speculation out of the equation.

This board is super cool in the sense that people here really try to help each other no matter how many times the question is asked, another great thing is that in the "Use CP" option above, it lets you post your specs so eveyone can see it for future references.

Hello Kingston Kong, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Here are some items to check for now:
1. Do you have the latest BIOS and motherboard chipset drivers installed?
2. Is the RAM the same type, speed, and uses the same voltage?
3. You can create and use a Memtest86 boot DVD to test your RAM to see if a stick may be bad.

Yes I updated everything

It's all DDR2 800 MHz. I don't know about voltage.

I did not use any program like that but I tested using every stick invidually and they all work fine that way.

Sorry I forgot to post the system specs, here they are:
AMD 64 X2 4800
Asrock AliveXFire eSATA2 ( same as the OP in the thread I linked)
Vista premium 64 bit
Leadtek geforce 8600 GT 256 mb

Memory sticks are 2 x 1 gb (Green) and 2 x 2 gb (Kingston)
All DDR2 800 mhz
I have tried running them all at once (6 gb, not working), only the Kingstons (4gb, not working) and only 1 Kingston (2gb, works) and only 2 x green (2gb, works).
I even updated NVIDIA drivers but no help.
