Make my wallpaper 280pixels wider?

I want to get a bigger monitor (1680x1050), i want to keep using my current wallpaper thats only only able to rescale to 1400x1050, so ive got 280pixel worth of blank space. Might have a go with photoshop trial again some time see if i can use any effects to fill the blank space. Any other ideas?

Hi fieseler,

Another method to consider is to re-size the original wallpaper oversize using Irfanview to give you a wallpaper, 1680 x 1260.

You can then set-up a custom crop area of 1680 x 1050 and place this on the larger wallpaper and crop down to size.

The advantage of this is that you can choose what you lose on an image by image basis, as quite a lot of images will have a dead area towards one of the edges.

You can also uncheck the preserve aspect ratio when you resize in irfanview.
