Lost sounds

Hello. Not sure what happened. Trying to straighten out a tangled mess of wires I unplugged my perfectly working speakers. I plugged them back in, and nothing. All sound is gone.......Windows sounds and everything. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated........no sound is not good. Thanks

The cause of your problem seems to be limited to the speakers try this:
Be sure that the speakers are plugged into the correct socket
Turn off computer, unplug speakers, replug then boot computer
Maker sure that the wires are firmly plugged into the socket

Lets not assume anything
Go to search type device manager and make sure there are no yellow warnings by audio cards.

I had tried most of what you prescribed, but did it all again.....and more. Still nothing. A good clean install looks to be the plan, and we'll see. But I wish I knew what happened. Thanks much though Rich. I appreciate it.

Lets wait 24 hours before you reinstall, Should not be necessary for unplugging speakers. Go to search, go to device manager, make sure that the audio driver has no yellow marks by it.

If you checked those wires, the problem must lie elsewhere.
