lost home page

hello everyone

After I downloaded a programme off of the internet, I could not get my home page
up on screen, I had to resort to using system restore to get my home page back.
Can anyone please tell me why this happened and what can I do if it does
happen again.

Hi again calmat, alot of times, when you download a program, if you do not uncheck some boxes, you may find a toolbar added and a homepage will get changed, so, you have to watch carefully when you are doing the install of the program.

I agree with Yard Dog, but to be sure run your anti virus scan and malwarebytes. There is the redirect virus wich changes the home page, however, it is not easy to change back to the original page.

Hello (again) calmat,

I would recommend installing WinPatrol:

BillP Studios - WinPatrol

It will notify you of such changes and will give you the option to block the change
