Also a Tip for this...I know someone who worked for a gas company. I was told that the best time to purchase gas was when it was cool and when there isn't a pump refilling truck doing its thing. I was told that its better when you do this because the materials arent knocked around or heated up from the sun.

Many Americans commute over much longer, and more often, distances than many others do. I don't have a nearby food store I can walk to, for example. I drive 14 miles one way each work day. I drive around 1,000 miles a month. So cost of gas is very important to me. No, the buses don't drive to where I live and work. Twenty minutes by car, over 2 hours by bus if the routes were usable by me.

Why such bad bus service ?

Auto makers bought up light rail and bus lines in the 1930s, and shut them down, to get people to buy cars. The public transit in the US is still recovering.

Oh, how much trouble did the Big 3 auto makers get into ? They each paid a $5,000 dollar fine. Pocket change.

You should come around my way John, it's about £1.02 or £1.03 for petrol and about £1.04 for diesel per litre. I'm dreading the price of oil when I have to fill my tank for heating never mind driving a car, which I don't do anyway ;)

Here in my bit of Australia, on the cheapest day - usually a Wednesday, it was $1.19 litre. Can vary up or down 10 cents.

Now Friday & the price is $1.35.:eek::eek::eek:

Pojosama, true.
fuel expands during the day (heat) and NEVER fuel up when a truck is there no matter HOW many filters are in place. So it was told when I worked at a station for 3yrs.
In Toronto where my cuz lives said it was $1.03/ltr today.
I'm about to pay $2.99/galUSD in an hour.

Let's see what the rest of the planet burns.

JimJoe, we here in Fl, have no transit system, unlike NY or any other country/state.

Thanks John, I think I'll go to a casino B4 I go 2 sleep and play some baccarat and save up so I can have my dream of going to the UK :D

Hmmm...

$3.09/gal in Anaheim this morning... I guess this means no more using the FasTrak lanes for me (Special pay for use lanes...go right by traffic on the 91 Freeway. I pay $4.30 in the morning and $9.30 in the evening (varies by the day and level of traffic) to cut one hour off my commute time).

I drive about 80 miles one way to work...crazy I know, but that's what it takes to own a home in SoCal...and to keep a job!

OMG!! I don't know how anyone can afford fuel at $6.00 plus a gallon...amazing!

Be careful with that idea...the last guy who did that and was vocal about it (Stan Meyers) died under mysterious circumstances…

There are many who are looking into ways to boost gasoline with Hydroxy (Browns Gas) derived from water…it is VERY Interesting stuff! ;)
