Logging on troubles

I was given a brand new Acer laptop last week with Vista on it but when I turn it on it says that I need a password to log on only neither myself or my parents have put a password on there, we've tried a password recovery disk but that says that there isn't a password on the laptop at all so because of this I can't get past the log in screen, even when trying to reset the password through 'forgotten password' it goes through the motions but then says that it could not be possible.
Is there anyone at all that can help me?

Hi Wilson, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Have you already tried leaving it blank and pressing enter to see if it will logon like that?

It could also have been set from the store you bought it from. You can do Method Three in this tutorial to reset it if you do not have access to another administrator account.
