Ok, I am meant to be working but thought i do a bit more investigating. My wok laptop is also vista home premium and has connected fine, so that could rule that problem out! i have been looking at each machines settings in System information and I have come across a difference.
Below are the settings for my work laptop, however my Samsung (the one with the problem is slightly different - it is saying DHCP enabled NO (annotated below)

Hi,
Sorry that did not work. I wonder if you could tell me;

What is the Make & Model Number of Your Computer?
E.g. Dell 1545 Laptop,……… HP SR5019UK PC……………
The one that is local only. Also what is the system all wireless/ethernet?
All network connections between computer & modem have presumably been checked?
Why Can't I Connect To The Internet?

I got onto the first link ok the ehow one had moved.

I have enabled the DHCP on wireless network adapter still only connects locally:cry:

This machine connected fine when we had the old NTL modem and separate router it is only since we had the NTL Superhub installed that problems began. I have not put it down to the router as all the other machines and stuff are working fine.

Yes I have tried with the firewall disabled.

The small monitors show whether its connected or not, it just says unidentified network local only connection.

Hello,

I am thinking that this is a feature of IPv6 and not actually a problem.

If you are inside a business network, you will be using proxies to access outside content so local only is not a problem. If you chose you are on a business network because you thought it would give you features, well more fool you, I am sorry to say... (I had to say it, forgive me!)

The next time you get local only, try this:

Open the "Netowrk and Sharing Center"

Click on Customize next to your network

In the "Set Network Location" dialog box, click on "Merge or delete network locations"

In the "Merge of Delete Network Locations" box, look for a network location with the status "not in use". Delete that network location by highlighting it and clicking the delete button.

Close dialog boxes.

If this not work this link may help you a bit.

Computer connects to networks, but not to the Internet, local only connection.

let me know the result. Thanks

This does seem to be a problem.
Having looking further into this I came across this link, that may be of some use.
Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain Routers?
Maybe?
Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers
The only other thing that springs to mind, after assuming all computer settings correct, is settings on the new router!
Quick thought, have you got a friend nearby, who does not have same router, see if it works?
