Line-In Software... Missing?

Hello, When I re-booted my Laptop and re-installed vista I seem to have gotten everything I needed but when I went to plug in my Microphone It did not register anything was plugged into the Mic Jack I checked in the sound settings and clicked on the Recording Tab I noticed the "Line In" Option was gone and I have no Idea how to get it back, do I need a new Sound Driver or what do I do?
