Hi,
Just curious. What are your least favorite programs/games? Also, give a reason!!

My Entry:

Mine HAS to be iTunes, or should I say iBloat.

This is just crazy how many useless things are in this, and how I'm locked into using it for my iPhone. Crazy!!

Hello and WoW my system does not have any useless games or software I keep it pretty clean. I use everything I got to help on this forum, I do however have chess and play all the time even while waiting for new OP's.

My home built systems never had any bloat on just because. I hate corporate built crap like HP, Dell and the like.

But with my laptop, there really was no choice. I wish it was just as simple to build a laptop.
Most of the crap on here is Toshiba junk, stuff I never use, but it's scattered all over the place.

Then there's 17 "games" in the games folder(chess, solitaire, Mahjong...that kinda stuff).

Windows Fax/Scan is worthless.

This is "Part" of the list of Toshiba crap, scattered through 4 different folders in the start menu. I'll never touch any of it.

MW you hurt my feelings, I have an HP, with that being said my next one will be home built with the intell i7 980 or what ever there new one will be. I found out buying there stuff you have to stick to it and the limitaions of there so called upgrades. I agree store bought sucks, if you change one thing you can screw up the entire system. That's why I keep this one to a minimum. After learning a lot from this forum and the members my next one will be built to my spec's.

I had that too but a fresh install gets rid of it all.
No Toshiba software on my computer now.
Would never use ITunes as there are good alternatives that work better.
I would never put Apple software on my Windows computer anyway.
My least favorite bit of software is Windows Error Reporting and Windows Help And Support. Both are turned off as is UAC

It doesn't have to be on your PC, just like something that you used.

I'm pretty much forced to use iTunes because I need something to sync my iPhone apps with and whatnot. And even though it's bloat, it has a good store for mobile devices.

I just had so many problems with systems like that, I grew a strong hatred for them, and started building my own.
Now I just use the laptop, and my 15yr old uses my older desktop. The laptop has all this stuff on it, which, to be fair, never gets turned on or used in any fashion. It's just "there", but it isn't a problem, and I don't like messing with laptops because ya never know.......not quite as simple as a desktop.

That's also another reason i'd never ever get a mac. Not a lot ya can do with them, which takes away the fun of building systems.
The other thing I don't like about most corporate systems is the OEM Windows. All Windows copies i've owned have been retail(besides of course the laptop.)

I changed my OEM to a retail and funny thing is the activation key with OEM in is still the one used to activate it.
Remove the space filling crap and reinstall with a Retail version,it's easy to do.

I don't understand the iTunes bashing, it's not got any bloat on it apart from ping, if anything is bloat, I'd say QuickTime, why can't they just incorporate qt into iTunes? In regards to bloat, I'd say my least favourite is steam, it's just a big advertising platform, every time you close a game, it advertises to you, but not just 1 game, it's got a whole list of games on separate screens, mildly annoying :-S

Well, the itunes thing is excessive considering what it's used for.

My boy has an iPod, and all we want is to be able to put music on it, since that's what it was made for. Not going to really blame anyone for this other than whoever designed all this crap in the first place. Any other device that i've ever used is simple drag/drop......it's just sickening how Apple has turned it into a complete circus just to be able to transfer stuff onto something that costs a small fortune.

iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Ping

And, besides the iTunes program itself...all the other crap is constantly running automatically when you turn on your comp. There isn't any reason why ANY of it should be starting up with your pc until you actually use iTunes. I know....I go in and turn all this startup crap off, but no one should have to.

Of course iTunes isn't the only thing that behaves like this...I mean, WMP starts up it's network sharing stuff, until you manually go in and disable it.

Adobe is notorious for the same thing....after any update, it's back in the startup list.
Hell, my Epson printer has 3 startup entries that would automatically start....for no reason. Disabled. Even my TomTom, which, other than updating maps every few months or a year, has an entry to startup with the pc.

Anyway, back to the topic. the other one I could never stand was Windows Mail. I am mainly on 7 now, but when I used Vista regularly, I could not stand Windows mail. I hate not being able to have separate inboxes and folders. I know you can create folders/rules and stuff, but why hassle? Most of my mail is through my ISP, which I have 4 email addresses, and used based on where and what i'm giving my email address to.

Hello MWRED I will but everything if you will build me one, I have $5000.00 to spend just on the CPU and tower already have everything else what can I build for that. Intel i7 is a must and it's gotta be fast as H--l. I have a friend when he hits a key or mouse you cant' see the switch from one to the other. He says he has I hope I am right a mainframe is there even such a thing as that. He has a room in his house that he keeps very cold and does not let anyone but himself in it, maybe he is from outer space all I know is I cant see the swith form one page to another. Is there something called a mainframe and if so what is it...

Hi everyone,

iTunes was installed along when I bought an HP computer.
I use it rarely, but it serves my purpose when I do.
The version I use is an oldie ( 4.0.6.15 ) released in 2003-2004.
I once installed a newer version,
but I did not liked it, so I went back to the old one.
As for installing new software, I am generally very careful,
because too many things can go wrong,
and it is not always reversible with System Restore.

Sweet
