Lag after a BSOD

Ok, well I was playing Mine Craft and surfing the web (not doing anything stupid like clicking on ads and whatnot) and I got a BSOD. I rebooted my PC and after a couple mins of smooth-running i start getting extreme lag, this happens everytime I try restarting, it lags only a couple mins after booted. Ive tried a few things to fix it, unsucessfully.

Things ive tried:
- Using CCCleaner to repair any broken registry files.
- Used McAfee's performance program (cant remember the name) to clean out the registry also.
- Done a system restore on the computer (Before trying any of the above)
- Removed my battery (I know my batteries next to being dead and my PC is telling me to replace it so i took it out, I thought it might have had something to do with the crash)
- Tried closing any non-vital process to increase performane.

I'm also mid-virus scan since I was surfing the internet theres always that possibility.

Oh also im using Windows Vista Home Premium x84 (32bit), it is OEM, my laptop is about 3 years old and i havent changed the OS at all so its also 3 years old

Hi,

The indication is, (mfehidk.sys fault in Mcafee) if you keep Mcafee updated then you need to update the windows system as the the Mcafee is updated & causing the problem with the old operating system files.

So, update the windows system & Mcafee or just the Windows system. This should correct the error. OK?

Ok thanks. Could have doing a system restore been the problem then? Since it reverts back my windows to a previous update but my McAfee wasnt effected from the restore

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If you did a restore point before doing the above what you have done is made a restore for the BSOD also. So please start with the following.

1. Run a full updated virus scan using your internet security...
2. Download and run a full scan using the free version of malwarebytes here is the link Malwarebytes

Untill the BSOD is fixed you will continue to have it come back and at some point worse then now, so after you have run the virus scans and if it comes back clean then try the following.
